The Waitt Institute works with committed local governments and the scientific community to develop comprehensive, practical and sustainable strategies for ocean zoning and fisheries management. The Institute provides technical expertise in marine ecology, mapping, socioeconomics and communications, and works with local organizations to build their capacity for effective implementation and long term success. In the process we deeply engage all stakeholders, fisherman and the entire community to work together as a team to restore fish populations and habitats so the whole community can benefit over the long term from a thriving and sustainable ocean.
